AWARDS & DISTINCTIONS
• Best Lecturer (2012), from the Civil Engineering Department, University of Santiago. • Postdoctoral Fellowship (2012), granted by the Chilean government (National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research – CONICYT) to carry out a postdoctoral program in the United Kingdom, from September 2012 to March 2013. • International Office Postgraduate Scholarship, granted by Swansea University, Wales, United Kingdom (2007). • Scientific Initiation Scholarship, for future researchers (1999). Program to form new researchers by inserting young talents in research projects, granted by the Vice-Rectory of Research and Development, University of Santiago, Chile. Sponsor Research project: “Aplicación del Método de Aproximación Local de la Fractura al Estudio de Acero Estructural A37-24ES y Soldadura”.
SOCIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
• Mentoring and advising research assistants in the project “Optimisation of Multi-scale Structures with Applications to Morphing Aircraft”, under the supervision of Prof. Friswell at Swansea University. • Managing students groups in Chile: I have had the opportunity to work with undergraduate students, guiding them to carry out their final research project at the end of the engineering course. Additionally, I have taught in Chilean universities and education institutions. • Managing students groups in the U.K: I worked as a demonstrator in the Civil Engineering Department, in Swansea University, From September 2007 to July 2009. • Working with disabled people: During 2009 and 2010, I helped disabled students at Swansea University, taking notes for them and sometimes teaching them as a subject specific tutor. • Good working relationships: In all my previous jobs I have had an excellent relationship with my colleagues, enjoying always my time at work. • Team work: from sports teams to work teams, I have always been comfortable when working as a part of a group, getting involved with the team spirit and with the group’s achievements. • Versatility: In the UK, I was able to adapt myself successfully to a new language and to a multicultural country with diverse races and customs from different nationalities.
ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
• Methodical and self-organised: All my achievements I have obtained during my academic studies and professional activities are due mainly to my methodological and systematic work.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
• Excellent IT skills (including windows, office, internet, utilities, etc.) • Matlab / Fortran / C • ANSYS. User from 1999. Static and dynamics analyses for solids and fluids. Use of Batch files. Ansys programming language. • Structural analysis FEM programs: ABAQUS, SAP2000, RISA3D, STAAD III. • GID FEM pre- and post-processor. • AutoCAD, including three-dimensional tools. • MathCAD
