Education

PhD in Engineering Sciences, Anna University, India

SUMMARY

Dr Siva Avudaiappan completed his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Anna University, India, in 2010 and obtained his Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (with a thesis on “Shear Bond Characteristics of Composite Slab Make Using of Cold- Formed Steel Sheet”) at Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology (ACCET), Anna University, in 2012. He completed his Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering in 2017, with a thesis on “Experimental and Numerical Investigations on Steel Concrete Composite Deck Slabs”, at Anna University.

In 2017, he joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Malaya, Malaysia, as a Research Assistant as part of the “Low Carbon Footprint Precast Concrete Products for an Energy Efficient Built Environment (LOWCOPRECON)” project, which is funded by the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund: Research and Innovation Bridges (UK), in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast, UK. His current research interests include high performance concrete, geopolymer concrete, composite materials, low carbon emission product development, structural engineering, the use of recycled aggregates from construction and demolition wastes, alternative mineral additions such as binders and alkali activated materials in the production of structural concrete.

Siva is a Student member/Fellow of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Being a hard worker, he was honoured with the “Scientist & Research-Official Spotlight Certificate as Young Scientist” at the 5th Faculty Branding Awards in July 2017 in Kolkata, India. In addition to this, he has also served as Brand Ambassador for Bentley software systems, which involved the coordination of workshops and study materials. He has been the Project Manager for Civil & Structural Engineering and Consultant at ATALON Instrumentation Pvt. Ltd, which is based in India and Singapore, since 2014.

Dr. Siva Avudaiappan is a post-doctoral researcher in computational mechanics at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Santiago. The main goal was to analyze the damage mechanism in the single point incremental forming process leading to material failure. He considers himself a rigorous, committed and teamwork enthusiast. Please feel free to contact him for collaboration!
